Addiction Affects the Whole Family

We are here to guide the family through the treatment process.

Addiction is often viewed as a disease that affects one individual - the one who is addicted and unable to break free from substance abuse. While this misconception is understandable, the truth is that addiction affects the entire family. Oftentimes, families are overlooked, as the attention has been focused primarily on their loved one struggling with addiction.

NCADD, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, stated that addiction is "a family disease that stressed the family to the breaking point, impacts the stability of the home, the family's unity, mental health, physical health, finances, and overall family dynamics."

At DeNovo Recovery, we understand that addiction hurts the whole family. This is why we find that it is necessary that solutions are designed to restore the whole family and not just the addicted individual. As clients approach their treatment completion, our staff begins working with their families in order to ensure that coping skills are in place and a vital understanding of addiction is present with all members of the family.

The therapists at DeNovo Recovery will conduct family sessions with you and your loved one to address specific issues and begin the healing process.
